Prior to Fastly, Randy has served as a CEO, entrepreneur, investor, and advisor to early-stage technology companies, including Square (now Block, Inc), as a member of the founding team. Randy launched his career as a game developer, contributing to games from Id Software, Bungie, Activision, and EA, and cut his teeth in Silicon Valley developing search technology at AltaVista. Based in San Francisco, Randy and his family maintain a close connection to New Zealand. As an Edmund Hillary Fellow and a member of the board of directors of Endeavor New Zealand, Randy helps support high-impact entrepreneurs in the region.

Hossein Lotfi is the VP of Engineering leading Edge Systems Organization at Fastly. Nick Rockwell is the Executive Vice President of Strategy and Operations at Fastly, with twenty years of experience in product development and information security at top media publishing companies.

Previously, Nick served as Chief Technology Officer at The New York Times, overseeing product engineering, infrastructure and research and development. At the Times, Nick led the company’s digital transformation through a massive re-architecture of its website and other product offerings. He helped transition The Times to a truly modern, digital media company.

Prior to the Times, Nick was Chief Technology Officer of Conde Nast, where he oversaw all aspects of Conde Nast’s technology development and operations, including web and mobile engineering across Conde Nast’s portfolio of brands. He was previously CTO at The Ladders, Digital CTO at MTV Networks, and the technical founder of SonicNet, a groundbreaking music editorial startup.

Throughout his career, Nick has worked at the intersection of media and the Internet, building digital products at scale. Nick graduated from Yale University with a B.A in Literary Theory and later learned to code on the mean streets of Silicon Alley. Along the way he did time in several bands, playing shows at CBGB's and other clubs around the Lower East Side.

Laura Thomson is the Senior Vice President of Engineering at Fastly.

Prior to Fastly, Laura held a variety of engineering leadership roles at Mozilla and has worked as a software engineer, company founder, consultant, and computer science academic. Laura is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Internet Society, where she currently serves as Treasurer. She previously served on the board of Internet Security Research Group (ISRG), the nonprofit that operates Let’s Encrypt.

Laura is a best-selling author who has written several books on various open source technologies, including “PHP and MySQL Web Development” (with Luke Welling). She has contributed to many open source projects, and spoken at dozens of conferences worldwide on a variety of technology topics.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Engineering and a Bachelor of Applied Science from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia.
