IT security decision-makers reveal that instead of focusing on the fundamentals, organizations are opting to spend their budgets on acquiring additional security tools, resulting in difficult-to-manage, complicated cybersecurity environments.
Fastly’s global research survey of more than 1,400 key IT decision makers in large organisations spanning multiple industries across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Japan finds that despite the news of ever-evolving, advanced threats, organizations are most concerned about straightforward attacks like data breaches, malware and phishing.
They are choosing to address these threats through overabundance of technology. However, a lack of resources - time, money and talent - to manage their tools means security teams are stretched thin to focus on fundamentals that form the foundations of a strong cybersecurity strategy.
Our research points to the need to take a back to basics approach. This simplified approach aims to build a stronger security posture, rather than creating unnecessarily complex environments that are more of a hindrance than a help.
